So this is where I’m at. I used to write more songs than I could ever record (50-60 songs a year), but owning my studio Plum Creek Sound and with a little more time and focus, I started to see that I was recording more albums than I could release under the traditional label model.
That’s all about to change. I have FOUR new albums coming your way over the next year - Ozarker, Moods, Sweetheart of the Rodeo & Colorwheels - all dropping every six months, with new singles released in between and throughout. A fountain of song will flow and starting today, I’m sharing early demos, song titles, track listings, and descriptions from each album, only here at Cosmic Eagle.
No more of this measly “one album every two years cycle'' nonsense.
Now, I know some of you might be saying, "whoa, slow down there Nashy boy, isn't that a lot of music?!?" But let me tell you guys something. In this streaming and digital age, we artists really need to think outside the box. The whole media-cultural landscape and attention span has changed. Touring has changed. The world has changed. The last decade + the pandemic has brought unfathomable pressure to an already decaying music industry. No more of this measly “one album every two years cycle'' nonsense. I’m tired of that hamster wheel - it’s old and squeaky and has an overall ‘chilling effect’ on the creative and musical output of today’s modern artists. We now have the tech tools and abilities to make way more music -more variety, more exploration, more collaborations, more instrumentals, EPs, film/tv, cover albums, just more musical output, period.
With recording technology being more accessible and affordable than ever before and the ease of digital distribution, there's no excuse not to be cranking out new tunes like there's no tomorrow! We artists need to remove the roadblocks -compelled by labels, management, agents or those self inflicted by ourselves - and create MORE great new music, way MORE often. It’s our purpose and joy, our fans want and need it, more music grows our publishing and writer catalogs, it takes us all over the world, it’s a real no brainer. This will empower the artist and help usher in a refreshed music industry that is more transparent and equitable for singer-songwriters and the music industry as a whole.
I wanted to share some studio pre-production demos (I make them for every song I write) for each of these new albums to better give you an idea of what’s soon to come. Now, I don't mess around when it comes to my demoing and writing process. I often do it all at the SAME time, baby. That way, I can explore all the sounds, effects, instrumentation, tempos, and harmonies that are bouncing around in my head while I’m finalizing a song structure and working out lyrics. Mostly, it’s me by my lonesome getting a little carried away in the studio rush. I’ve never shared these demos outside of my band and team, so I’m excited to finally give these out to you all. Not only will we share more of these demos for the new records, but we’ll also be posting original demos for older IN albums over the years, for favorite cover songs, and unreleased studio jams, all here exclusively at Cosmic Eagle. So have a look, have a listen and poke around the sights and sounds so you can let me know how it all slaps. Really looking forward to hearing from you guys and sharing a ton more music, art and ideas with you here at Cosmic Eagle.
