From early melody ideas, to developing structure and lyrics, to re-writes, editing, pre-production… a song grows overtime and requires a type of patient attention to make it as good as it can be.

Presumably some songs develop easier/faster than others - what is the longest break you have taken from a song, and later returned to it and finished it?
As a songwriter I appreciate this because when my first ideas come out I can’t imagine they’ll blossom as they do through the recording process, but they do. And you reminded me that after they’re recorded they continue to grow! That’s a new perspective for me 🎶
